Let’s Talk About Black Beauty

The Lip Bar

Where we spend our money matters. The companies we support matter. Black consumers hold a large portion of the spending power in America. We spend more than $1 trillion a year with about $573.6 billion of that being on beauty and grooming products. We need to be conscious of where those dollars go and who those dollars benefit. Black wealth matters.

So I’m doing my part in ensuring Black-owned businesses thrive. I am putting my money where my mouth is and investing in Black beauty brands, starting with The Lip Bar. The Lip Bar was founded in 2012 by Melissa Butler, to help change the way people thought of beauty. It’s an inclusive brand full of bold, vegan and cruelty free products.

I’ve been wearing the Matte Liquid Lipstick in color Savage as well as the Bronzer + Blush Duo in Double Date almost daily since receiving my order last week. I love the lipstick because it’s easy to apply, applies smoothly, and has insane lasting power! This bronzer is my new best friend – it’s taken me my entire adulthood to find one that actually does what it’s supposed to do for melanin skin. This. is. it. This is what the black girl magic glow-up is all about. Make-up for melanin girls is here, it’s affordable, and it’s available at The Lip Bar and Target!
